Dance is a tool to cultivate a life of freedom - a catalyst for social change.

Movement ActivisTs Training

Movement Activists was established as an international network of artists passionate about intersecting dance and social action under the umbrella of Gibney Dance Community Action. In 2019, Movement Activists evolved into a collaborative training program for dancers to learn tools for bringing social change to their communities. Participants cultivate skills to be respectful community leaders who listen well and know the value of the arts. Movement Activist Trainings will explore experiences and discussion topics on working with incarcerated individuals, survivors of domestic violence, health recovery groups and youth.

Move free

Move Free curriculum has been developed through experiences teaching dance and creative movement in public schools throughout Chicago and New York City. Move Free aims at increasing social and emotional learning skills while developing technical dance abilities. In this program, students will experience the joy of dancing while cultivating skills for creative expression, healthy relationships and regulating their emotions.
